For this chapter it is important to know transformation procedures including- use of amp resistance genes to isolate transformants, marker genes to find them and how protiens are isolated. how the genes are inserted, copied, what vectors can be used, why we use bacteria, or yeast or Hampster cells, BAC libraries, CDNA libraries, why copy genes from mRNA using reverse transcriptase,why use PCR to amplify the gene amounts,
gel electrophoresis- why it works, how it works, rflp's,
Southern blotting to isolate a gene of interest and identify it using nucleic acid hybridization or a nucleic acid probe with fluorescent or radioactive tag.

on the diagram sheets memorize at least four of the applications for DNA biotech... there is a chart towards the end.
For the AP test know the stages of development from zygote to blastula to gastrula to embryo on one of the sheets .
