Notes are due for chapter 4 and 5. In your lab notebooks you should have each part of the lab for both the transpiration lab and animal lab written in rough draft form. there will be no formal write up for either lab, but they will be graded along with your notebook in the near future. There is a lab format available in class.
Chapter 4 know the bolded terms, memorize the structures of functional groups and how they look on molecules ( alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, carboxylic acid, amino, amines, thiols, organic phosphates, methyl group.).
For chapter 5 know the names of the four categories of biomolecules/macromolecules. Know what monomers they are made from (ex. proteins are made from amino acids)Know these most common molecules, what class they belong to and what organisms they are common to: glucose, fructose, sucrose, lactose, starch, cellulose, glycogen, chitin, wax, oil, fat, steroids, cholesterol, testosterone, estradiol, DNA, RNA. Know the functions of these molecules.
