There will be a review for a test on Wednesday in class. There will be an additional review after school on Wednesday for any student that may be taking a PSAT or needs nore help. The test is on Thursday and includes chapter 4 and 5 on organic chemistry, funtional groups, the 4 categories of biomolecules. Know which molecules fall in which category, know the monomers each of the polymers are made from (ex. nucleotides make up nucleic acids). Know the properties that each category would have...ex... lipids are nonpolar and do not mix with water are insoluble in water. Know the structure of the common molecules and which organisms have them....ex...cellulose in plant cell walls, chitin in insects and fungi. All examples used on the worksheets are considered fair game for the test. Remember the tricks to help you find out which group they belong to...ex... way more carbon atoms than oxygen, probably a lipid.
Chapter 6 is long and has many vocab words. Try to finish over the next three nights and have most of it in your notebook for Friday, definitely by Monday. Know the parts of the cell and their functions.
Great job on quizzes...functional groups and also on the identification of molecules! If you were one of the few that did not do well see me about a retake. We want you to know this stuff like the back of your hand for the AP test. It also makes learning the future chapters so much easier.
