Problem:
Given a student has two chambers connected by a smaller chamber that is used to introduce the bugs into the choice chamber assembly, the student keeps track of where the pillbugs are at all times and comes up with this data:
81 on the large petri dish that is covered so it is in the dark. 20 are in a small channel in the middle. And 75 are in the matching large petri dish that is exposed to light.
According to the experiment determine the following things:
Would the analysis show that there is a preference for darkness? show work!
What other factors must be kept constant?
What is the experimental hypothesis? What is the null hypothesis?
Be prepared for a quiz on the experiment, and Chi square analysis and behavior terms listed in class.
