post test

Now for projects. Tomorrow we have a project to help new students learn using manipulatives. Concentration is a game where cards are turned over until a match is made. Usually the cards are identical. If you find a match you get to keep it. This form is a little harder because one card contains a vocabulary word, the other contains a definition of that word, or an example of that concept. You are making the game so that there are 16 cards on an 8 by 11.5 in paper, using a table function. The font must be at least 24 font or larger. Each student will get a different topic. You must have at least 32 cards for each game, but can have as many as 48 per game. Topic choices: biomolecules; enzymes: DNA; DNA Replication; protein synthesis;mitosis/meiosis; patterns of inheritance; hormones and glands; gene regulation; water properties;viruses and bacteria; probabilities and genetics problems; photosynthesis; cellular respiration;cell membrane and transport; cell organelles and function;evolution vocab; animal behavior; immunity; ecology vocab;......After they are approved, they are glued onto construction paper of the same color and placed in ziplock bags with a label that clearly marks the topic. You graded on the accuracy of all the matches. So cards should first be arranged before cutting them so that the match is next to the vocab word that it matches. After approval and corrections. the cards are made so there are 12 sets. This will be done in class.Using class materials.
