Chapters 2-5 are the focus next week.
Can you make lewis diagrams of N, C, O, H, p, and S?
Can you show using lewis diagrams how H2O, NH3 and CCl4 form?
There is a whole chapter on water and the fact that it is polar. This is because it is bent, not linear. Also Oxygen is electronegative and selfishly hogs all the electrons. If water was not polar there would be no life on Earth.
You will learn the names of the functional groups: phoshate, carboxyl, alcohol, aldehyde, keytone, thiosulfate.
You will memorize what a monosaccharide looks like.
You must know what the four categories of biomolecules are and what they are made with.
Chemistry: full speed ahead!
